Things to do when staying at Fisherground Lodges

There is so much to do right on our doorstep at Fisherground Lodges. Set in the heart of the Eskdale Valley with fells, lakes, rivers and attractions making us the ideal location for a family holiday and for couples too. Many of the attractions in the Western Lake District are dog friendly aswell.

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains making the leisurely seven-mile journey down to Ravenglass a picturesque old fishing village with a ruined Roman bath house and Muncaster Castle nearby. A trip on the La'al Ratty steam engine is not to be missed. You can buy a return ticket or walk back over Muncaster fell or along the valley floor along the Eskdale trail. Fisherground also has it's own station!

Scafell Pike

Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain can be climbed from Eskdale along with a multitude of other famous Wainwright’s.
Or you can take a 15min drive and start walking from Wasdale.
Why not have a dip in Wastwater Englands deepest lake or visit Englands smallest church while you are there.

Dark Skies

Cumbria has some of the darkest skies in the whole of the UK, great for stargazing and Eskdale is one of the best locations with almost zero light polution. Gaze out of your lodge window or step outside and look up to the stars.
